What Is Swiss Machining?
Swiss machining, also known as Swiss screw machining or Swiss turning, is a precision manufacturing process designed for small, complex parts with tight tolerances. It uses a Swiss CNC lathe equipped with a guide bushing that supports the material close to the cutting tool, minimizing deflection and vibration. This allows for stable, high-accuracy machining at micron-level tolerances.
Swiss machining is widely applied in medical devices, aerospace, automotive, electronics, and other precision-critical industries.
Advantages of cnc swiss machining
» Ultra-High Precision – Achieves micron-level tolerances
» Ideal for Slender Parts – Guide bushing reduces vibration and deflection
» Multi-Operation Machining – Turning, milling, drilling, tapping in one setup
» High Efficiency – Continuous bar feeding enables volume production
» Automation Ready – Lower labor cost, higher consistency and productivity

Swiss machining is ideal for small, complex, and high-precision parts, especially long, slender components requiring tight tolerances.
We machine a wide range of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, medical-grade alloys, and engineering plastics.
XML supports everything from rapid prototypes and low-volume runs to high-volume mass production with consistent quality.
Swiss machining uses a guide bushing to support the material close to the cutting tool, reducing vibration and enabling higher precision compared to conventional CNC lathes.
